Why Marble Polishing Is Needed

Marble doesn't just get "dirty" — it gets damaged

Most marble floor problems aren't dirt sitting on the surface. They're chemical and physical damage to the stone itself, which is why regular mopping never fixes them. Here's what we see most often in Singapore homes.

Our Process

Grind. Hone. Polish. Seal.

The same four-step sequence used across the marble restoration industry — done with proper diamond equipment, not a quick surface buff.

01

Free On-Site Assessment

We inspect your marble in person — every etch mark, stain, scratch and dull patch — and give you an honest, itemised quote before any work starts.

02

Diamond Grinding

Coarse diamond discs remove deep scratches, unevenness and the damaged top layer of the stone where etching or staining has set in.

03

Honing

Progressively finer diamond grits even out the surface. We can stop here for a soft matte "honed" look, or continue to a full gloss.

04

Polishing, Crystallization & Sealing

Polishing powder or a crystallization compound is buffed in to restore true mirror shine, then a penetrating sealer is applied to resist future stains and moisture.

Why Choose Us

A marble specialist, not a generalist

Plenty of cleaning companies list marble polishing as one of ten services. We only do marble floor restoration — which means every job gets a crew that actually understands why an etch mark, a watermark and a scratch each need a different fix, not the same generic buff.

  • Fast response — we reply the same day, not a week later
  • Online quote — send photos of your floor and get a real price before we even step foot in your home
  • Exceptional customer service — from the first time you reach out, right through to the work being done
  • After-service support — questions or touch-ups after the job? We're still here

FAQ

Common Questions

Can etch marks and watermarks actually be removed, or just hidden?

Genuine etching and watermarking is physical damage to the stone's surface, not dirt sitting on top — so it can't be cleaned away. It has to be removed with progressive diamond abrasives (the same grinding & honing process used for scratches) and then re-polished. Anything that claims to "wipe off" deep etching is only masking it temporarily.

Why does my marble floor keep going dull again after I mop it?

Regular mopping cleans the surface but does nothing for the reflective polish itself, and many household cleaners are mildly acidic, which very slowly re-etches the surface with every clean. If your floor was never professionally honed and polished, or the polish has worn through from years of foot traffic, mopping alone will never bring the shine back.

Is marble polishing messy or noisy?

Diamond grinding does produce fine dust and noise, similar to light renovation work. We use dust-control equipment and section off the work area, and can schedule around your household or your tenants' hours for commercial units.

How much does marble floor polishing cost in Singapore?

Most homes fall in a similar range to the rest of the Singapore market — roughly $1 per square foot for a full grind-hone-polish-seal restoration, with a $350 minimum per job, and a flat $250 for small, localised spot repairs like a single etch mark or stain. See our full pricing page for the breakdown.

How long does the smell or downtime last?

For a typical room, we're in and out within a day, and floors are safe to walk on again (in socks) within a few hours once polishing is complete. Full-unit jobs are scheduled room by room so part of your home stays usable throughout.

Do you polish marble in condos and commercial units too, not just HDB flats?

Yes — our recent jobs span HDB flats, condominium units on Petir Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road, and landed housing. The process is the same; larger commercial jobs are usually scheduled outside operating hours.

How often should I reseal my marble floor?

As a general guide, every 1–2 years for normal residential traffic in Singapore's humidity, sooner for bathrooms, kitchens or balconies where water sits more often, and less often for a low-traffic room. The simplest check is the water-drop test — see our full sealing guide for how to do it yourself.

Does sealing stop etching or scratching?

No — this is a common misunderstanding. Sealing only slows how quickly liquids soak into the stone and stain it. Etching is a chemical reaction with the polished surface itself, and scratching is physical abrasion — a sealer sitting below the surface doesn't prevent either one. More in our sealing guide.

Do you work on floor types other than marble?

This site is deliberately focused on marble only. If you also have terrazzo, parquet or other flooring that needs attention, ask us directly and we can advise or point you the right way.

Is polished marble slippery or unsafe underfoot?

A high-gloss polish is more reflective, not inherently more slippery than any other smooth, sealed floor, but it can feel slicker when wet. For bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas, we often recommend stopping at a honed (matte) finish rather than full gloss, and a bath mat or rug in shower/entrance areas is always sensible regardless of finish.

Can you fix cracks or chips, not just surface marks?

Small chips and hairline cracks can usually be filled with a colour-matched epoxy or resin as part of the restoration and then polished flush. Larger structural cracks, or tiles that have come loose from the subfloor, may need the affected piece replaced rather than filled — something we'll flag honestly during the on-site assessment rather than after the fact.

Will my floor look brand new, or just better?

Most floors come very close to their original factory shine after a full grind-hone-polish-seal restoration. Very old marble, uneven past repairs, or tiles from different batches can still show some natural variation in veining and tone afterwards — polishing restores shine and evenness, it doesn't change the stone's underlying colour or pattern.

Do I need to move my own furniture first?

We can shift light furniture ourselves to work around it. For heavier items, fragile pieces, or full rooms, it's faster and safer for you to clear the area beforehand — we'll tell you exactly what's needed for your specific job at the free assessment.

Is it safe to stay in the unit with kids or pets during the work?

We section off the active work area and use dust-control equipment, but diamond grinding still produces noise and fine dust in that room, so we'd suggest keeping kids and pets out of the immediate work area until grinding is done. The floor is generally safe to walk on again in socks a few hours after polishing finishes.

Can I get before-and-after photos of my own job?

Yes — this is standard practice for us and we're happy to send them over WhatsApp once the job's done.
